The ‘Warcraft’ Movie Gets A Prequel Graphic Novel Plus A Panel At PAX East


For fans waiting on the Warcraft movie, it has just been announced a graphic novel prequel will be available before the movie debuts in theaters on June 10. The graphic novel is called Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood and all the details you need to know about it are below.

According to IGN[1], the 112 page hardcover graphic novel (retailing at $24.99) will be released on June 7, just days before the Warcraft movie hits theaters in the U.S. The novel will be written by Paul Cornell from a story by Blizzard's Chris Metzen. Mat Broome, Michael O'Hare, Eddie Nunez, Roy Allan Martinez, Ale Garza, and Mike Bowden are tasked with the artwork. Kevin Tong is credited with the Warcraft graphic novel cover art.

This will likely make it possible for fans who have not played the video games the Warcraft movie is based on another option to pick up a feel for the world of Warcraft before heading off to view the movie.

The blurb for the Warcraft graphic novel is as follows.

"Discover how three of Azeroth's greatest champions forged their first alliance, in the official graphic prequel to the Warcaft movie from Legendary, Universal Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment.

[Image via Universal Pictures]As well as this latest news on the Warcraft movie, fans heading to PAX East[2] in Boston next week are in for a treat with the Warcraft panel. Entitled, Warcraft: A Look Inside the Upcoming Cinematic Adventure, it will feature one of the cast members, Robert Kazinsky as well as the movie's director, Duncan Jones. Kazinsky, who plays Orgrim in the movie, is a fan of the World of Warcraft games and even credits the game with saving his life[3] when he was going through a rough patch in his acting career.

The Warcraft panel at PAX East will be held in the main theater on Saturday April 23. Extra panel details are below.

"Join director/co-writer Duncan Jones and star Robert Kazinsky (Orgrim) as they discuss the secrets behind WARCRAFT, their much-anticipated epic adventure of world-colliding conflict, which arrives in theatres this summer. A second trailer for the Warcraft movie is expected to be released on April 19 according to Duncan Jones' Twitter account[4].
