Ben Affleck is going to do more than save the day.
The Oscar winner has been confirmed to direct — and star — in a stand-alone Batman movie, Warner Bros. said[1] in a statement to Variety magazine.

The 43-year-old made his debut as the Caped Crusader in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," which premiered last month and launched the cinematic franchise for DC Comics.
"It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020," Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara said at Tuesday's CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
"I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie," he continued.

The news comes after a July 2015 report[4] claiming the A-lister was in talks to pull double duty with help from DC Comic's chief creative mind, Geoff Johns.
At the time, the plot of the flick was reported to "reflect the Batman character that emerges" after the films "Batman v. Superman" and "Justice League."

Affleck, who has a cameo in the upcoming "Suicide Squad," is set to appear in at least part one and two of "Justice League," according[5] to the Hollywood Reporter.

The actor's donning of the black cape fetched $166.1 million during opening weekend at the box office. Despite the financial success, the film has been panned by several critics and fans.
