2016 MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet Arrivals: Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, And Charlize Theron Slay In Glam Goth

The celebrities attending the 2016 MTV Movie Awards seemed to be rocking one particular style on the red carpet. There seemed to be a Goth Glam dress code in force as the majority of the attendees opted for black attire that was sheer, embellished, and glamorously gothic. In fact, except for a few who either didn't get the memo or just didn't care, it could have been a collection.

The MTV Movie Awards has a dress code that is traditionally more relaxed than other award shows, so the fashionable tend to try different styles and get a little creative. All of the current trends showed up in the audience at the annual event hosted this year by comedian Kevin Hart and actor Dwayne Johnson at Warner Bros. Studios.

The "It Girls" left the dresses at home and opted instead for jumpsuits, pantsuits, or shorts. Cara Delevingne wore a black Balmain jumpsuit with cut-outs, and Gigi Hadid wore a pinstriped Versace suit. Kendall Jenner's Balmain look was more Grecian than Gothic — a front-laced bodysuit accompanied by a sheer asymmetrical skirt.

"I appreciate Charlize Theron's style because it's classic. I love that chick; she's a movie star. I've only seen her from afar. I do not make a point to say hello to anyone I admire."

Most people seemed to understand that the MTV Movie Awards are supposed to be fun and not to be taken too seriously. Ta'rhonda Jones from Empire definitely understood. She arrived wearing a boldly printed pink shorts and a matching jacket that showed off her assets, and vlogger Lilly Singh wore blue satin pajamas. However, Farrah Abraham went full-on glam and looked more suited for the Oscars than the MTV Movie Awards.

Emilia Clarke arrives at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards

She accessorized her dress with a very unexpected Miu Miu clutch that was just as quirky as her dress. She confided to WWD that it was her cheeky way[2] of referencing the Game of Thrones' season six "Hall of Faces" poster.

"Game of Thrones' is faces this year, so I'm paying my respect."

There were some standout styles worn by actresses Halle Berry and Daisy Ridley, who were both presenters at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards. The ladies stuck with the Glam Goth trend — Berry wore a body-conscious black dress with sheer lace cut-outs, and Ridley stood out in a short, black and white plaid dress.
