Former Nickelodeon star Alex Wolff, 18, will take on a more serious role when he stars as the younger of the two Boston Marathon Bombers – Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – in an upcoming film about the attacks, PEOPLE confirms.
The movie, Patriots Day, will also star Themo Melikidze, Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman and Kevin Bacon.
The 2013 attack killed 3 people and injured more than 250 others.
In Ap ril of 2015, Tsarnaev was convicted[5] of 30 federal counts and sentenced to death[6] two months later.
Tsarnaev's brother and second bombing second, Tamerlan Tsarnae[7]v, was killed in a shootout with police following the incident.
Patriots Day will open in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on December 21.
