Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice[1] has created quite a stir ever since its premiere in late March, causing different critics and disagreement between fans. But now director Zack Snyder has opened up about the possibility of pursuing another Superman movie, and it all depends on how this movie comes along. The article contains spoilers for the Batman v Superman movie.
There are a lot of plans for upcoming superhero movies coming from DC Comics, like the standalone Wonder Woman movie, the Aquaman one, Justice League[2] Part 1 and Part 2, and the possibility of a Batman movie starring Ben Affleck[3].
But for now is no release schedule for a Man of Steel 2, or plans for it, for that matter, but Henry Cavill[4] and Snyder are not rulling the option out.
Snyder opened up to IGN about his plans on Superman:
I think if we could get a good script it would be great to have a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do. […] Part of the reason we haven't announced the standalone Superman movie this time was to support some of the events of this film [Batman v Superman].
Of course, since Superman died at the end of the Batman v Superman, it all depends how it plays out. And while his death is the base of the Justice League, I am curious whether he will appear in those movies at all.
And Henry thinks that a future Man of Steel depends on how his latest movie plays out:
I do believe it depends upon the success of this movie. If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. to develop a standalone Superman. But they've got their plan set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies. It's about finding the time, really. It's something I'd be very keen to do.
And producer Charles Roven brought up the problem of schedule:
