Star Wars: The Force Awakens didn't snag any Oscars but maybe MTV will hook it up with some trophies.
The all-time domestic box-office champ and sci-fi blockbuster is up for 11 honors at the 25th annual MTV Movie Awards, which airs April 10 (8 ET/PT) and will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. The Force Awakens scored the most nominations of any film, followed by the recent R-rated hit Deadpool with eight and superhero sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
All three of those films are in the running for movie of the year along with Creed, Jurassic World and Straight Outta Compton, which also scored a nod for "True Story" — that's one of two new categories this year, along with a best documentary field featuring recent Oscar winner Amy.
Among individual highlights, Star Wars' Daisy Ridley is up for four awards — female performance, breakthrough performance, best hero and best fight (alongside best villain nominee Adam Driver) — and Leonardo DiCaprio garnered his 14th and 15th career MTV Movie Awards nominations — male performance and best fight — for The Revenant, which recently won him his first Academy Award.
Fans can vote for the awards at MovieAwards.MTV.com[1] until March 20 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and thanks to a partnership between MTV and Google, they can choose their favorite movie of the year by typing in the keywords "MTV Vote" into Google's search bar.
