Kirsten Dunst on Role She Would Play ‘Forever,’ the Movie ‘Midnight Special’ and Her TV Guilty Pleasure

Actress Kirsten Dunst[1] has been busy. She's appearing in a new movie, just wrapped a role on TV's "Fargo" and is going to direct her own project very soon.

Dunst, 33, talked with "Good Morning America[2]"'s Lara Spencer[3] about her career plans, but she was very hush-hush about the movie she'll direct.

"I can't talk about it yet. But yeah, it's -- I'm terrified and also so excited ...," she said, revealing that the project is based on a book.

Dunst is appearing in the Jeff Nichols-directed "Midnight Special," a sci-fi drama that opens on March 18. The film is full of mysteries.

"I think our viewers are having a hard time explaining it, which is kind of amazing," Dunst said. "I think the only thi ng I would compare it to is, it feels a little bit like a 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind[4]' -- something that younger people can watch, too."

The cast also includes actors Joel Edgerton, Michael Shannon[5] and Adam Driver[6].

Spencer asked Dunst what it was like to work on the film.

"I mean, I think because we shot it two years ago -- so it's been a minute. But the director, Jeff, creates such a good atmosphere on the set. You know when you're working with great people that they all -- everyone's striving to make something wonderful for him and with him," she said.

Dunst also appeared in season 2 of the TV series "Fargo," and she called her character, Peggy, "one of the best roles I've ever played."

Commending the quality of the series, Dunst said: "I would play Peggy forever ... it was so well rec eived that I'm sad it's over. But I'm very proud of it, yeah."

Dunst acknowledged that she has her own small-screen viewing guilty pleasure: "The Bachelor."[7]

"It's just so funny and ridiculous," she said, laughing. "It's just, like, it's so crazy that this is on television and that these women put themselves in this position. It's just so -- it's brilliant."
