Thief movie still in the works after adding new producers

Thief is getting a film adaptation after the rights have changed hands, says The Hollywood Reporter.[2]

The screenwriting team on the project is Simon Boyes, known for Misconduct and Not Safe for Work, and Adam Mason. They'll be writing the script for Straight Up Films, which acquired the rights to the franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film's premise will be rather stock fare: "a master thief tries to restore freedom, which has been denied by a magic-wielding tyrant."

We last heard about a Thief movie in 2014[3], when Roy Lee and Adrian Askarah, who was responsible for the 2007 Hitman adaptation, were said to be producing it. They're still on this project, along with Marisa Polvino and Kate Cohen.

Thief has been around for nearly 20 years; its latest game was a poorly received reboot in 2014[4]
