Disney Plans Live-Action Movie About Snow White’s Sister

Rose Red appeared in the Brothers Grimm fairy tales

Disney is developing a live-action film based on the story of Snow White's sister, TheWrap has learned.

Justin Merz has written the script based on a pitch by Evan Daughterty, and Tripp Vinson[1] is producing through his Vinson Films banner.

Rose Red appeared in the Brothers Grimm fairy tales that had no relation to the classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," which would later inspire the classic 1937 Disney film.

The film will make Rose Red a key player in Snow White's later life. When Snow White takes a bite out of the infamous apple, her estranged sister must team up with Grumpy and the other dwarfs to break the curse.

Tara Farney is executive producing, with Merz and Adam Rodin[3] co-producing.

Daugherty previously wrote "Snow White and the Huntsman," as well as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Divergent."

Vinson has two other fairy tales set up at Disney: "Genies," a prequel to "Aladdin," and "Prince Charming."

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
