Think you've heard of it all? Well, how about Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg starring in a 9/11 themed movie? According to Variety[1], it's about to happen.
The film, which takes place during the World Trade Center attacks, is an indie drama called Nine Eleven. The drama will star Sheen and Goldberg, as two out of five strangers who get stuck in a World Trade Center elevator together while the attacks are happening. Additional cast members include Luiz Guzman, Olga Fonda and Wood Harris.
In the announcement about the film being made, Charlie Sheen makes a statement about the 9/11 project and how passionate he is about the indie film. "I feel deeply connected to the material and I'm so excited to be working with my dear friend Whoopi Goldberg."

Director Martin Guigui released a statement about Nine Eleven as well, which isn't surprising given the sensitive nature of the content.
"We are immensely grateful to bring this inspirational story to life. Nine Eleven is a highly emotional journey and it took a dynamic bunch to collectively come together to make this unique film happen."
He continues, "We are fortunate to have such a gifted cast on board. Both Charlie and Whoopi are native New Yorkers who strongly identify with this story."

This will be the first project Sheen has signed on to since revealing that he's HIV-positive. The last fans heard from Sheen, he was failing to pay child support for children Lola, Sam, Bob and Max; according to the actor, he couldn't pay $55,000 due to being out of work. He claimed that he had received a reduction of income, and combined with the payout to various people who allegedly extorted him over his HIV-positive status, Sheen claimed he was wiped.
At the height of his popularity with the CBS series Two and a Half Men, Sheen was making $600,000 a month. Considering that this new film is said to be an indie passion project, it doesn't seem like Sheen will be making a big pay day from the latest production.
At the time Sheen said[10] the following.
"We came up with a number a long time ago and I had a great job and everybody was living large. and that's not the case right now, but there's still that expectation to still keep paying this kind of money."
This isn't the only 9/11 themed movie set to debut. As the Inquisitr reported, there's another movie (a TV movie) called Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, which sees Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlon Brando traveling in a car after they get stuck in New York during the attacks. Actor Joseph Fiennes is set to play Michael Jackson, Stockard Channing will portray Taylor and Brian Cox is Marlon Brando.
Fiennes got the brunt of the controversy when the film was announced, given he's a completely different race than the late-Michael Jackson, who allegedly suffered from the skin condition vitiligo that made the pigment of his skin turn white. In response to the immense backlash, Fiennes made a comment.
"In terms of Michael, this is the last few years of his life that we're looking at him. This is a 20-minute TV comedy and it's a very moving TV comedy. For me, on the page it was less about Michael Jackson and was really about three dysfunctional people."
He also told the Associated Press[11] the following.
"If it promotes stereotyping, then it's wrong. I made a distinction that the Jackson project doesn't do that."
Other films that have already tackled the events more directly include World Trade Center, and the documentary by Michael Moore, Fahrenheit 9/11.
