So who gets the last laugh here? Sacha Baron Cohen[1]'s new movie, The Brothers Grimsby, doesn't shy away from controversy. It even goes so far as to give GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump[2] AIDS by the end of it.
The film, set for release in the U.S. on March 11, follows the bumbling exploits of Carl "Nobby" Butcher (Baron Cohen), the less astute brother of top secret agent Sebastian Butcher (Mark Strong).
Things go awry when the brothers — separated as young boys — are unexpectedly reunited and Nobby ruins one of Sebastian's biggest missions.
The questionable moment involving Trump comes at the end of the film, as the credits are rolling, when an actor standing in as Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe[4] is shot, and his AIDS-infected blood flies into a faux Donald Trump's mouth and infects him too.
Though Sony is standing behind the button-pushing film (a spokesperson denied to The Hollywood Reporter[5] that it had asked Baron Cohen to remove the scene), a disclaimer does crop up at the end of the film.
"Daniel Radcliffe was not involved in this movie and does not have HIV/AIDS," it reads, according to The Guardian[6]. "Donald Trump was not involved in this movie, but [long pause] … and does not have HIV/Aids."
Baron Cohen, 44, has been outspoken about his dislike for Trump, 69. In December, the actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in character as Borat, telling the talk show host that Trump's attempt to ban Muslims from America meant he must have "a brain like a female chicken."
And the disgust is mutual. In 2012, the business mogul tweeted that he would never fall sucker to Baron Cohen's tricks (the comic has been known to interview politicians as his alter ego, Ali G).
"I never fall for scams," Trump wrote at the time. "I am the only person who immediately walked out of my 'Ali G' interview."
