The first full trailer for Rogue One[3], the first Star Wars spin-off movie, is airing tomorrow[4], but thanks to a preview clip posted today, we've already got our first glimpse at the film. Now some might say a teaser trailer for a teaser trailer is overkill, especially when 90 percent of its 10-second run time is spent looking at a logo against a black screen, but for a trained S tar Wars fan like me[5], the clip is a veritable gold mine of information.
After picking carefully through the frames of the preview — all 24 of them — I've managed to work out some important details already. For one, I can confirm that Rogue One will be more than two seconds long, and will feature at least three people, one of whom will be wearing a helmet of a variety never before seen in a Star Wars movie. The first Star Wars spin-off will also star a fire, and include both music, and the noise of a TIE Fighter. It's not clear, however, whether the movie will have any actual TIE Fighters, or simply their noises.
We'll find out more tomorrow when the first proper trailer for the movie actually arrives, but until then, I'm going to be watching the trailer's trailer on repeat in anticipation, looking for details I might've missed, honing my skills ahead of Episode VIII's official reveal — at which point we'll no doubt have a teaser trailer for the teaser trailer of the teaser trailer. With Disney, as its Marvel marketing strategy has shown, it's teaser trailers all the way down.
