Watch: Alex Morgan says 'things can get better' in National Women's Soccer League - OregonLive.com

It's been nearly two weeks since Portland Thorns forward Alex Morgan tweeted about a bed bug problem at the Thorns' team hotel in Kansas City.

On Wednesday, she had a chance to expand on that tweet and offer her thoughts on how the National Women's Soccer League can improve.

The Oregonian/OregonLive.com's Jamie Goldberg asked Morgan about the next steps for the league in continuing its growth.

Morgan, one of the most high-profile women's soccer players in the world, said "it's a simple question that's not so simple to answer."

First, she praised the league in its first three years for doing a "great job" establishing itself.

Then, she offered some specific ways that the league could improve, mentioning "travel and accommodations could do a little better," including some more direct flights. She talked about improving training facilities and said she would like to see all the teams in the league have dedicated, full-time training staff and management staff.

Portland, she said, "set the standard really high in this league."

Morgan also talked about how the league could become more appealing to international players by setting a schedule that works around the world, among other suggestions.

She also talked more about the tweet that started it all, offering more details about the circumstances and explaining that her intention wasn't to single out accommodations as the one thing the NWSL needs to look to improve on.
