Wet weather has restricted running in Michelin's MotoGP tyre test at Brno.

The French manufacturer gearing up for a return to MotoGP as tyre supplier had earmarked the day to further develop its 2016 MotoGP slick compounds with all factory and satellite teams present at the Czech circuit.

However a period of prolonged rain curtailed their plans restricting development to its wet compound tyres.

The test was Michelin's third bespoke tyre test with MotoGP teams after outings at Sepang and Mugello earlier in the season.

"Of course we improved between Sepang and Mugello, and having again the top guys riding on our tyres in Mugello pointed out the areas where we needed to improve," said Michelin Racing's Technical Director Nicolas Goubert.

"So we worked hard between Mugello and today here in Brno so we expected to have good weather to be able to test the new solutions. Unfortunately the weather is not here.

"We'll be able to assess the rain tyre performance, which is something very interesting as well. A couple of guys this morning rode on the intermediate tyres.

"The results were interesting so we have to modify them slightly, but we're not far from the target."

Michelin is due to continue its tyre development with a test day for factory riders on the Tuesday after the British Grand Prix held from August 28-30.
