Assassin's Creed Movie Finishes Filming

The upcoming movie based on Ubisoft's action-adventure series Assassin's Creed and starring Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender has finished filming. Assassin's Creed head of content Azaïzia Aymar announced the news in a tweet, which depicts some of the cast and crew standing in front of what appears to be a giant green screen. That looks like Fassbender there in the middle holding the clapper (via Game Informer[1]).

The movie will now enter post-production ahead of its scheduled debut on December 21--one week after the Star Wars Rogue One arrives on December 16.

In December some new images from the movie emerged, including an epic-looking one that shows Fassbender in costume, wielding a sword[2]. Additionally, a viral marketing campaign has begun[3].

The movie is directed by Justin Kurzel, who recently helmed Macbeth, which also featured Fassbender in the lead role. His Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard will also appear in the Assassin's Creed movie, alongside Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Ubisoft has at least six movies in the pipeline. In addition to Assassin's Creed, the Paris-based publisher is making movies based on its Far Cry[4], Rabbids[5], Watch Dogs[6], Splinter Cell[7], and Ghost Recon[8] franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain some level of creative control through its Ubisoft Motion Pictures group.
