MotoGP Champion Kewin Schwantz coming to India - Zigwheels.com

Legendary MotoGP Champion Kewis Schwantz will come to India for the season finale of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup at the Buddh International Circuit later this month

It's good news once again for MotoGP fans in India. Not too long ago, Yamaha announced that they will be bringing two-time MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo to India to unveil a new product for India. While Lorenzo will only make his way to India in November, fans of the sport won't have to wait that long to come face to face with a Motorcycle Grand Prix Champion.

Legendary MotoGP Champion, Kewin Schwantz will visit India on September 26. The American former world champion will be present for the finale of the first season of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup at the Buddh International Circuit.

Schwantz started his motorcycle racing career following a test ride with Yoshimura Suzuki in 1984. The American was immediately offered a position in the American Motorcyclist Association National Series the following year. Following a victory in AMA's Daytona 200 in 1988, Schwantz was promoted to Suzuki's 500cc Grand Prix team. The legendary rivalry between Kevin Schwantz and compatriot Wayne Rainey, which lasted 7 years, added to the excitement of 2-stroke 500cc Grand Prix racing at its competitive peak! He finally went on to win the MotoGP championship in 1993, post which he chose to retire from the sport.

Schwantz however, has been part of the Grand Prix racing fraternity since then. He actively helped out in making the Circuit of the Americas and was also featured in the popular documentary Faster in 2003.
