MotoGP.com/Dorna SRL charges one hundred and thirty-nine Euros for a yearly subscription for the MotoGP live feed. ($156.00)
On Sunday, many US subscribers were met with a black box when trying to view the Silverstone MotoGP race via the MotoGP.com web site. There was no video, there was no audio.
MotoGP.com/Dorna admitted in a customer email that their video feed failed for some customers.
An unnamed customer service agent from MotoGP.com stated:
It was an issue on our end. It's fixed now. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences. The Full MotoGP race will be uploaded in our no-spoiler section shortly.
Queried on what MotoGP.com will do as a "make good" for their customers who did not receive service they paid for, the customer service agent did not reply.
Basically, if you took the convenient route and subscribed and paid for your Motogp.com video subscription via Paypal, there is seemingly nothing one can do force MotoGP.com into a refund. However, subscribers who paid MotoGP.com with a credit card may have some luck leveraging their credit card holder to force MotoGP.com into a resolution.
Meanwhile, the cord-cutting culture and "no pay, no way" movement is hitting motorcycle racing just as it has other sports programming. The number of MotoGP video torrents available on file sharing sites has grown dramatically in the last year. Many are uploaded within minutes after the race ends.
