Oh Nothing, Just Johnny Depp Playing Donald Trump in a 50-Minute Spoof Movie

Donald Trump Funny or Die movie Johnny Depp

If there's one good thing to come out of Donald Trump running for president, it's how easy he is to make fun of, whether the jokes are made by late-night talk show hosts[1], Saturday Night Live, or Johnny Depp in prosthetic makeup and a wig. No, that last part wasn't just in a weird dream you had. It's what happens in a new 50-minute Funny or Die[2] spoof movie called The Art of the Deal, based on Trump's book of the same name. You really have to see it to believe it. And when you do see it, you will not be disappointed.

The movie opens with Ron Howard explaining that the movie, which was supposed to premiere on television in 1988, was preempted by a football game and never aired. It was "thought to be lost in the Cybill Shepherd blouse fire of 1989," but was eventually found at a yard sale. It's in the style of a genuine 1980s movie of the cheesiest variety, because there is nothing funnier than that in the universe. It co-stars Patton Oswalt as Merv Griffin, Michaela Watkins as Ivana Trump (#flawless), and a host of other famous people like Alfred Molina, Henry Winkler and ALF. Yes, that ALF. (In Depp-as-Trump's words, "the only illegal alien I truly love.")

I'm not joking when I say that Johnny Depp should win an Oscar for this performance. This could totally revive his career and make up for all the questionable choices[3] he's made in recent years. This is the role he was born to play. I'm actually thinking this should be a weekly TV series that runs forever and ever amen. I also think Funny or Die should change their name to Funny and Die, because it's funny and then you die from how funny it is.

You can watch the full movie here[4]. The trailer is below.
