The United States and Germany are duking it out in a Women's World Cup semifinal clash that can only be described as an instant classic. The United States have been the mroe dominant team in the half thanks in part to forward Alex Morgan putting pressure on German goal keeper Nadine Angerer.
At the end of the first half Alex Morgan nearly gave the United States women's national team the lead they had been looking for – and quite frankly deserved – thanks to a beautiful bit of skill. She tapped the ball with her toe around a defender to get in on goal cleanly but missed her target.
It looks like the USWNT could've had a goal if Morgan had made the pass to the teammate in the center of the box, but she either chose not to or didn't see it.
Still, can we just take a moment to take in this bit of brilliance from Morgan to get around the defender. That is a world class move right there, though maybe not as great as her behind the back nutmeg.
Morgan also had a scoring opportunity earlier in the game in a 1-on-1 situation, but Angerer got the better of Morgan that time.
