Morgan, one of the superstars with the U.S. Women's World Cup team, is married to Carrasco's son, Servando.
The two met during their first year at Cal Berkeley in 2007 and married last New Year's Eve.
"She's the same humble person that I met many years ago. They do the same things together, they love the same things. I'm very proud of both of them," said Gloria.
Servando is also a professional soccer player who grew up in the San Diego/Tijuana region and graduated from St. Augustine High School.
He currently plays for Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer. After practice on Saturday, he flew to Vancouver to be with his mother to watch Morgan and her teammates beat Japan and win the World Cup.
"I'm so glad, so happy to have witnessed such an important time in history. We finally got back the cup," said Gloria.
