MotoGP Germany: Crutchlow aiming to build momentum - crash.net

Cal Crutchlow hopes to build on the momentum of his sixth place finish at Assen this weekend at the Sachsenring, which ended a run of three DNFs for CWM LCR Honda rider in June.

Crutchlow clinched a terrific runner-up finish at the German circuit behind Marc Marquez in 2013 on the Tech 3 Yamaha and is keen to put the RC213V through its paces at a venue where the Honda has excelled in recent seasons.

"Assen was not a bad race and to finish sixth, I was quite happy with it after three bad races to be honest," said the British rider.

"The CWM LCR Honda team seemed to do a good job in Assen. I felt we probably should have been a bit ahead of where we were, so honestly speaking I wasn't too impressed with the overall result but it was good to score some points again.

"We come to the Sachsenring, a circuit that I like, with some good confidence and hopefully this weekend we can improve even more on the last result."

Crutchlow intends to start as he means to go on with a strong free practice on Friday to set himself up for qualifying and Sunday's race ahead of the MotoGP summer break.

"I'm looking forward to riding the Honda here, we know they're working really hard for us at the circuit and also back in Japan," he said.

"I'm excited to get out tomorrow morning and see if we can start to work quite well over the weekend and carry that momentum into the race."
