MotoGP News: POLL: Who will win the 2015 MotoGP title? - crash.net

Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo or Marc Marquez? CLICK HERE to vote!

The second half of the 2015 MotoGP season starts next weekend at Indianapolis with Valentino Rossi leading the championship by 13 points.

But who you think will be crowned world champion at the Valencia season finale on November 8?

Rossi's charge towards a tenth grand prix title has been built upon a perfect run of nine podium finishes, including three victories, which have kept him at the top of the championship since the Qatar season-opener.

But it is Movistar Yamaha team-mate and closest rival Jorge Lorenzo who has taken the most race wins. The Spaniard dominated four races in a row to rocket up the standings, before yielding some breathing room back to his team-mate at Assen and Sachsenring.

Lorenzo scored more points than any other rider during the second half of last season.

Meanwhile the biggest question mark regards reigning champion Marc Marquez. The Repsol Honda star is currently fourth in the championship and 65 points from Rossi after suffering three DNFs.

But if - as his results at the last two rounds suggest - the young Spaniard has got the rear of his RCV back under control, might he mount a remarkable title comeback?

Having won the championship in both his previous MotoGP seasons and undefeated in the opening ten rounds of last year, Rossi and Lorenzo have made clear they will never write off the #93, who has set the fastest lap at the last four grands prix.

But the maths remains daunting: Marquez needs to outscore Rossi by an average of 7.3 points per race to pass the Italian by the end of the season.

Four points in front of Marquez in the championship is Ducati's Andrea Iannone, whose team-mate Andrea Dovizioso has slipped to fifth. It's been a great start to his first factory Ducati season for Iannone, who has claim ed a pair of podiums, while Dovizioso was runner-up four times in the opening five races.

But the GP15 is yet to achieve the target set by Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall'Igna of at least one race win, and as such we haven't included the pair as title contenders at this stage.

Stefan Bradl leaves Forward Racing MotoGP team amid Aprilia talk - autosport.com

Friday, July 31st 2015, 14:53 GMT

Stefan Bradl

Stefan Bradl has been released from his Forward Racing contract amid the team's difficulties and is tipped to join Aprilia for the rest of the 2015 MotoGP season.

Forward will miss the next grand prix at Indianapolis as it regroups following the arrest of team boss Giovanni Cuzari.

Although it is determined to return to the championship in time for the subsequent Brno race, the team has agreed to allow Bradl to leave.

"Forward Racing and Stefan Bradl have reached an agreement by mutual consent to terminate the contractual obligations between the German rider and the Swiss team," said a statement.

"This difficult decision - the result of an agreement between the parties - has been taken in front of the concrete possibility for the rider to continue his participation in the world championship and to ensure and protect his sport activity and his interests."

The Gresini-run works Aprilia team parted with Marco Melandri prior to the last round at the Sachsenring and promoted test rider Michael Laverty in his place.

But the longer-term plan for the seat was left open, amid a clash between the final round of Laverty's British Superbike programme and MotoGP's Australian GP later in the year.

Reports in the German press this week had already linked Bradl with a move to Aprilia in time for Indy if he could agree terms with Forward.

Bradl missed the last race at the Sachsenring as he recovered from a hand injury sustained at Assen.

A regular top-10 finisher with LCR Honda through 2013 and '14, the 2012 Moto2 champion had struggled with Forward's Yamaha-based package so far this year and is currently only 19th in the championship.

His erstwhile team-mate Loris Baz has yet to announce his plans. Forward had already recalled its 2013 MotoGP rider Claudio Corti in Bradl's place for Germany.

Jorge Martinez: 2016 wieder mit Honda – oder Aprilia? - SPEEDWEEK.COM

Townsville tyro takes on grand old man of MotoGP, Valentino Rossi - Sydney Morning Herald

As MotoGP star Valentino Rossi defies his age by bidding for a late-life world title, Australian rookie Jack Miller is belying his youth in his leap into the premier class of motorcycle racing.

Rossi, 36, is the eldest rider in MotoGP, while 20-year-old Miller is the youngest after his unprecedented move straight from the third-tier Moto3 junior division, bypassing the Moto2 feeder class.

While the colourful Italian star is leading the MotoGP world championship in a stunning and unexpected return to form in the twilight of his storied two-wheeled racing career, the untamed talent from Townsville is learning to harness his ability and contain his wheel-standing 1000cc V4 Honda racer.

Miller has moved up from a 250cc single-cylinder machine producing around 41 kW (55 horsepower) to a hang-onto-the-handlebars beast pumping out about 180kW (240 horsepower).

The big jump hasn't fazed the wild-riding Miller, but it is taking him time to come to grips with the nuances of MotoGP racing against the very best riders in the world.

After the first half of the 18-race season, he is 18th in world title standings with just 12 points from five top-15 finishes.

In contrast, born-again Rossi is leading the title after nine races with 179 points amassed from three wins and podium finishes in every race. He is vying for an eighth premier class world title and his first since 2009.

The grand old man of MotoGP is 13 points ahead of his Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo, himself a former world champion in the midst of a mini-revival that has netted four straight race wins, while the dominant title winner of the past two years, Marc Marquez, has struggled on his Honda and is fourth in the standings.

When his exuberance and inexperience hasn't caused early crashes, Barcelona- based Miller has scored a best of 11th in his four finishes.

After winning races and narrowly losing last year's Moto3 crown, Miller isn't thrilled to be scrapping for points finishes in MotoGP, but is satisfied that he is beginning to approach the potential of his Open class Honda, which can't compete with the less- restricted full-factory bikes.

"We've had a few ups and a few downs," he told Fairfax Media. "It's been a roller coaster, that's for sure. It's been difficult, of course, but nobody said it was going to be easy.

"We're the first to do the jump from Moto3 to MotoGP, so there are a lot of eyes on us and a lot of people are wanting us to fail. But I think we've proved it is possible to do it. We're slowly but surely getting through it all and trying to iron out all the creases. Overall, I'm really happy with the progress we've made."

Miller has spent MotoGP's northern summer break at home on his family's farm outside Townsville. He was in Melbourne on Wednesday to promote the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island on October 18, by when he expects to be able to be fast enough to finish just inside the top 10.

While he has little hope of emulating Casey Stoner's feats at the Island, where the now retired two-times world champion won a record six straight AMGPs from 2007- 21012, Miller hopes for a respectable performance at his home nation race.

In fact, he hopes his affinity for the fast and flowing oceanside track will underpin his bid to top the Open class, which is a precursor to next year's more limited technical rules for the MotoGP category.

"It's going to be a little bit different, I think," Miller said. "Hopefully, we'll get the same reception as last year (when he won the Moto3 race to keep his title hopes alive).

OK, we won't be fighting for the title this year, but hopefully we can at least do a decent job and get a decent result."

Interest in MotoGP has been boosted by Rossi's renaissance, which along with Miller's graduation has fuelled a surge in ticket pre-sales of yup to 49 per cent for Phillip Island.

Like most in the MotoGP pit lane, Miller is rooting for Rossi – an outgoing character whose love of fun and mischief is matched by the irreverent Far North Queenslander – to add a final world title to his already legendary legacy.

"He's doing an amazing job at 36-years-old," he said. "We just don't know how he's doing it. The guy's been in it for so many years and been strong for so many years, but he still never ceases to amaze people.

"Hopefully, he can do it [win the MotoGP world title]. Fingers crossed for him. I think it'd be awesome for the sport if he could do it. The fact that he's winning races and leading the championship has brought a lot more interest back into the sport."

8h Suzuka: Casey Stoner veröffentlicht Sturzursache - SPEEDWEEK.COM

MotoGP News: Aprilia to swoop for Bradl amidst Forward furore? - crash.net

Forward Racing says it is still keen to retain agreements with its MotoGP and Moto2 riders despite its uncertain future following the arrest of its owner and subsequent withdrawal from the Indianapolis Grand Prix.

In the wake of Giovanni Cuzari's arrest in Switzerland, Forward Racing will not travel to the United States for the next round of the MotoGP World Championship, with its immediate plans beyond also unclear.

Though team manager Marco Curioni is confident the team will be back in action for the next round in Brno less than a week later, with sponsors reportedly backing away, it is considered the riders may well follow suit.

Of particular interest is Bradl, who was supposed to return to MotoGP action at Indianapolis following a hand injury, as he is considered a prime candidate for a potential swoop by Aprilia to fill its currently vacant second seat alongside Alvaro Bautista.

Though he has endured a difficult first-half of the season on the Forward Yamaha having been dropped by LCR Honda after three years, the former Moto2 champion is still considered a valuable asset for Dorna as the only German in MotoGP.

A spokesperson from Forward Racing was unable to shed any further light, other than to say 'in this difficult situation for the team we are open to find an agreement with the riders, but at the moment nothing is official'. However, Curioni has told GPOne.com that a potential deal with a rival team could prove mutually beneficial.

"Should there be such an eventuality, we will seek an agreement with the riders. This would also enable the team also save some money."

It is also unclear what would happen to Bradl's team-mate Loris Baz, as well as its Moto2 riders Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldassari.

Women's Soccer Players, Including Alex Morgan, To Cover FIFA Video Game For ... - Huffington Post

Women's soccer continues to make history, as EA Sports announced on Monday that Alex Morgan will be among the first women ever to cover its FIFA video game series.

Morgan and Canada's Christine Sinclair will be paired with Lionel Messi in each of FIFA 16's U.S. and Canada releases respectively, the company said.

It will be the first time in the game's history that women are featured on the cover, and follows the company's reveal in May that women will be included in the game itself for the first time ever.

"It gives women's soccer another platform to showcase the advancement in the sport," Morgan told The Huffington Post. "Just the fact that women's sports in general is continuing to be a mainstream thing and creating more awareness, more popularity -- and it's exciting to be part of the history in the making right now."

Scheduled for a September 22 release, FIFA 16 will have 12 women's national soccer teams including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden and the U.S. The teams will be featured in the game's kick-off, tournament and online-friendly modes. EA Sports revealed earlier this month that Stephanie Catley won a vote to appear on Australia's cover.

Morgan said the upcoming release of the game is "perfect timing," coinciding with her team bringing home the Women's World Cup trophy this July.

"It's been incredible to see the year that women's sports has had so far," the player said. She added that having women in the game will allow people -- herself included -- to get to know the women's teams and players that aren't televised as much as the men.

Morgan celebrating with her teammates after defeating Japan 5-2 to win the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.

But Morgan acknowledged that there's still plenty to be disappointed about when it comes to women's soccer. Particularly with regards to FIFA, which has been embroiled in scandal and continuing to face charges that it doesn't put equal efforts into supporting the women's game.

Morgan herself was at the center of an outcry after a seemingly sexist FIFA story in the first line described her as "very easy on the eye and good looks to match." She told HuffPost that "it was just a mistake."

When I first saw the article it was the day after I had actually done the interview and it was with a really sweet lady at FIFA, so to be honest, I know that she had really good intentions. But I know there are some articles that are twisted in the wrong ways and you know that they're trying to raise an eyebrow or be controversial. But I really think that she had good intentions for this article. And she came up to me and apologized immediately after, so this is one instance where I really think it was just a mistake.

But while Morgan is willing to let the article slide, she was more firm when it came to the changes she'd like to see within FIFA. She called for more representation for women in both FIFA as whole as well as well as its executive committee -- the latter of which has only one elected woman on its 25-member group. She also echoed the sentiments of her teammates, such as goalkeeper Hope Solo, who have spoken out about the vastly smaller purses awarded to women's World Cup teams compared to the men's.

"We understand that the men's World Cup brought in a lot more marketing dollars and more revenue, but you just see that gap and it's shocking, it really is," Morgan said. "And that's something that FIFA can actively change."

The success of the U.S. women's team and their inclusion in FIFA 16 are two things that Morgan hopes will spur change.

"There are inequalities, but being a part of this, being a part of team and a movement that is closing that gap of inequality is a really great thing to be a part of," Morgan said.

She continued, "The inequality is out there and it's something that can be changed easily and I hope over time, in the more recent future, it's changed."

MotoGP News: Moto3: Vinales thrown lifeline as Carrasco replacement - crash.net

Isaac Vinales will replace the injured Ana Carrasco at the Red Bull Indianapolis Moto3 Grand Prix next weekend.

Carrasco broke the top of her humerus in her left shoulder after coming off in the German round at the Sachsenring and has had a titanium plate inserted during surgery in Barcelona.

Her fitness will be assessed ahead of the Czech round at Brno, but in the meantime Vinales will take over in the RBA Racing team, jumping at the opportunity to continue in Moto3 after he was replaced in the Husqvarna Factory Laglisse Team by Lorenzo Dalla Porta during the summer break.

Vinales, currently eighth in the championship standings, will be keen to make an impression at Indy on the KTM after failing to meet the expectations of his former team.

Meanwhile, Italian teenager Dalla Porta is aiming to adapt quickly to the Moto3 World Championship after competing in the Italian Moto3 prior to his switch to the Laglisse Academy team in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World C hampionship this season.

The 18-year-old, who won the Italian 125cc title in 2012, said: "I will run with a factory bike in Moto3 and I will have to adjust to it quickly, but I guess it will be better.

"There are differences in the two machines, so I find it hard to make a comparison, but the biggest change will be in the chassis and the engine.

"Continuing to work with the same team will be a big advantage, as I know the guys and work well with all of them," added Dalla Porta, who has never raced at Indianapolis before.

"I think we can do a good job because I will be working with people who believe in me, although I need to have more confidence in myself. In the first round, it will be important to learn as much as I can by observing other riders.

"I think it is a great opportunity for me and I hope to make the most of it."

Dalla Porta will run the number 48 in tribute to his Grandma Nicoletta in reference to the year of her birth, who bought him his very first motorcycle to allow him to pursue his dream of becoming a racer.

Forward Racing To Miss Indy MotoGP - Cycle News

Cuzari's arrest has thrown the team into disarray. Forward Racing team, consisting of MotoGP riders Loris Baz and Stefan Bradl, and Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldasari in Moto2, will not compete at the upcoming Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round on August 9 following the arrest of team owner Giovanni Cuzari and the freezing of team assets and funds by Swiss authorities.

Cuzari is under investigation for tax evasion and other financial impropriety, with the immediate future of the team now in serious jeopardy.

Forward

Forward Racing is still hoping to complete the season when the European rounds resume in the Czech Republic on August 16.

In a statement released on the team's website, it states, "In the aftermath of the arrest and the charges against Giovanni Cuzari, director and owner of Forward Racing, the Team, through its closest collaborators, has returned to work immediately to stem the possible consequences of this situation, in order to continue its sport activity and to end the current season, following also the desire of Giovanni.

"Unfortunately, the reaction of the sponsors, the main source of income of an independent team, was immediate and resolute. Inevitably some of them canceled the existing contracts and interrupted payments, creating further financial troubles that could jeopardize completely the surviving of the Team."

Baz and BradlLoris Baz (76) currently sits second in the Open class standings but the decision not to race at Indy will deal his chances a series blow.

Forward Racing team manager Marco Curioni went a step further, saying, "Only in the last hours we have glimpsed the real possibility to overcome this situation. I hope to have Giovanni – who until proven to the contrary he is correct to assume innocent – soon with us and available to find a solution. In this dark moment, several "partners" and "friends" have understandably distanced himself from the team and then for this reason I want to thank those who are helping us."

MotoAmerica coming to IMS for Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend

INDIANAPOLIS – MotoAmerica, the premier U.S.-based motorcycle road racing series, will race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend, Aug. 7-9.

The first-year series has featured great racing across multiple divisions and IMS will be the eighth stop in a nine-round schedule.

"We're really pleased to be bringing our MotoAmerica Series to Indianapolis Motor Speedway," said MotoAmerica president and three-time World Champion Wayne Rainey. "There is so much history there at the Speedway and it's an honor that we get to be a part of that going forward. It's also great to be sharing the weekend with MotoGP. We have a great relationship with (MotoGP rights holder) Dorna and it gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase our series to an international audience."

The premier class for the MotoAmerica Championship is Superbike, featuring a rules package based on a combination of AMA Superbike chassis and 2015 World Superbike Championship engine specifications. Racing alongside the Superbikes (but scored separately) is the Superstock 1000 class, closely aligned to FIM Superstock 1000 rules and run on slick tires.

Other classifications include Supersport, formerly known as AMA Daytona Sportbike, and Bazzaz Superstock 600, the former AMA Pro SuperSport class.

"The racing at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP is terrific every year and MotoAmerica will add even more great competition," Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles said. "MotoAmerica riders hail from all across the country and our fans might discover a new favorite rider over the weekend."

Top manufacturers including BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha are represented on the MotoAmerica grid and a mix of young, up-and-coming riders will battle veterans on the 16-turn, 2.591-mile IMS road course.

Roger Hayden, younger brother of 2006 MotoGP World Champion and current MotoGP competitor Nicky Hayden, will come up from his hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky, to battle in the Superbike division.

"I'm excited for Indy," said Hayden, who rides for Yoshimura Suzuki. "And not just because of the history the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has, but to be racing the same weekend as my brother, Nicky. We will be racing close to home so there will be tons of family and friends there who have never seen me race before. I'm looking forward to racing in front of them and to get the chance to kiss the bricks, which is something I've always seen on TV, would be awesome. I hope to get to do that."

MotoGP News: Moto3: Family affair for Khairuddin brothers at Sepang - crash.net

Moto3 World Championship rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin will take on a new role this weekend at the Malaysian round of the World Superbike Championship as he turns helper to his teenage brother at Sepang.

Idham Khairuddin has been granted a wildcard entry to compete in the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup (SAATC) this weekend in one of the WSBK support races and older brother Khairuddin will be on hand to help with machine preparation, including changing tyres, cleaning and polishing the bike, tools and equipment and passing on his advice to the 16-year-old.

"It gives me real pleasure to be part of this exciting racing series and to help my brother out. I am very happy that he has been granted a wildcard entry for the SAATC," said Khairuddin.

"He has always wanted to follow in my footsteps and compete in the international arena. Hopefully, the race in Sepang can provide the launching pad for him to jump into the international scene.

"I was very lucky to be granted a wildcard ticket in 2009 to compete during the Malaysian MotoGP before moving on to the World GP125," he added.

"Hopefully, he will get his lucky break this weekend at Sepang. My whole family and our friends are very excited to see Idham race and they will all be cheering their hearts out for him."

FIFA 16: Alex Morgan Featured Alongside Lionel Messi on the Cover, And More - Day Herald

Football or soccer has an appeal all around the globe and games trying to cater to football fans try to make them as realistic as possible. Right now, FIFA is the most popular football franchise from Electronic Sports, and recently there has been some developments regarding the release date of FIFA 16 for PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC and PS4.

There are also some newly added features like Lionel Messi's 'no-touch dribbling' along with the addition of female athletes in this game and on the cover. Engadget further declared that FIFA 16 will be the first sports game featuring female athletes on the cover. However, this wasn't a big secret as it was earlier revealed that Lionel Messi would be revealed on the cover along with other players.

There was also a list of applicants with female contenders among them. In the United States Edition, it was revealed that Alex Morgan, the Olympic Gold Medalist will be featured running beside Messi and for the Canadian Edition, Christine Sinclair will be adorning the cover.

At the same time, the Australian Edition will feature Stephanie Catley on the cover. Keep in mind that women won't be appearing on the cover in every edition but this is quite a big step to promote gender equality in sports. This time, FIFA 16 will feature 12 Women's National Teams for the first time in the history of this franchise.

It will include game modes like Offline Tournament, Match Day along with Online Friendly matches. Teams will be chosen from Austrailia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States in order to represent their respective federations in all of these FIFA 16 game modes.

According to Vine Report, there will be a new 'No-touch dribbling' mode available Lionel Messi. With the help of this move, the player will be allowed to momentarily let the ball stand and change further in the direction of the stance. The player fakes a turn in his run but then it changes back into a particular direction and coming back to the ball.

Thankfully, this move is not restricted to Messi and can be employed by any player. However, the effectiveness of this maneuver will depend upon the skill of the player using it. FIFA 16 will be launched on 22nd September in The United States and on 26th in The United Kingdom.

In the meantime, Oscar was finally revealed to Chelsea fans regarding his look on the new cover for FIFA 16. EA Sports Brazil recently released a picture of the game's cover art. EA confirmed earlier that Oscar would be available alongside Messi on the Brazilian cover of FIFA 16. Oscar beat his compatriots like Neymar, Thiago Silva and Philippe Coutinho to become the star of this game.

FIFA 16

Eminent Sports Magazines like Sports Illustrated and ESPN have been graced by the presence of Alex Morgan but her recent shoot is a foray into unknown territory for a female soccer player. She stands next to Lionel Messi on the US cover of FIFA 16.

In a press release, Alex Morgan declared that it was an incredible honor to be one of the first women to be featured on the EA Sports FIFA Cover. She declared, ""I know people all over the world play this game and I'm really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women's soccer. And now to share the cover with today's greatest player is surreal."

MotoGP News: Suzuka 8 Hours: Honda apologises for Stoner accident - crash.net

Having completed its investigation into Casey Stoner's dramatic accident while leading Sunday's Suzuka 8 Hours, Honda has confirmed a 'throttle malfunction' and apologised to the retired double MotoGP champion.

"Honda Racing Corporation has carried out a detailed analysis following the crash of Casey Stoner in last weekend's Suzuka 8 Hour race," said a HRC statement.

"Checking the throttle, which is a particular specification for Endurance HRC Factory bikes, and different from the standard throttle used on the Honda CBR1000RR road version, a malfunction was discovered related to the throttle cable.

"This kind of problem hasn't arisen before, however, HRC will cease using this throttle specification and will design a new one to be used for Endurance races.

"HRC would like to apologise to Casey Stoner and thank him for the effort he made in attending the Suzuka 8 Hour event."

Stoner, taking part in his first motorcycle race since leaving MotoGP at the end of 2 012, was handed the #634 Musashi machine by team-mate Takumi Takahashi near the one hour mark.

The Australian soon moved into the lead, but disaster struck shortly after at the fast right-hander leading to the hairpin. A front-wheel wobble was the first sign that the throttle had remained open and, after grabbing the clutch, Stoner ran onto the grass and fell at high speed.

The 29-year-old, who suffered shoulder and ankle fractures, soon revealed that the throttle had stuck, with Honda's initial checks suggesting it was open by 26 degrees.

WSBK star Michael van der Mark was the third member of the factory Musashi team, which was seeking its third straight Suzuka victory.

The Yamaha line-up of Bradley Smith, Pol Espargaro and Katusyuki Nakasuga went on to win the race.

MotoGP: Forward Racing to miss Indy GP after arrest of team owner - FOXSports.com

Updated JUL 28, 2015 at 5:40p ET

In the aftermath of the arrest and the charges against Giovanni Cuzari, director and owner of Forward Racing, the team has focused on limiting the possible consequences of the situation and will miss the Indianapolis Grand Prix. Cuzari is under investigation for tax evasion and other financial troubles.

Unfortunately, the reaction of the sponsors - the main source of income of an independent team - was immediate and resolute. Inevitably, some of them canceled their existing contracts and interrupted payments, creating further financial troubles that could jeopardize the survival of the team.

As a result, MotoGP riders Stefan Bradl and Loris Baz will not compete on American soil. Forward Racing's Moto2 team, with riders Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldassarri, will also not make the trip.

Recent days have therefore focused on rebuilding sponsor relationships, Forward Racing able to reach a consensus to regain some vital economic aid to cover the costs of the upcoming races. New processes of collection and payment were activated, the economic admin was rebuilt and new operational modalities were agreed with the Public Prosecutor of Lugano (Procura di Lugano).

The primary aim to start again and to protect the interests of our riders, engineers, contractors and supplies led to an agreement with the International Racing Teams Association (IRTA) not to deploy race at the start of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix on Aug. 9, in order to gather all the resources and to better organize the upcoming rounds.

This painful decision was necessary in order to try to ensure participation in the MotoGP World Championship until the end of the season. The work of the team will continue with the aim to get back on track at Brno for the bwin Grand Prix Czech Republic scheduled for Aug. 16.

Marco Curioni --€" Managing director: "It was a very difficult week for the Forward Racing. Only in the last hours we have glimpsed the real possibility of overcome this situation. I hope to have Giovanni - who until proven to the contrary, he is correct to assume innocent - soon with us and available to find a solution. In this dark moment, several partners and friends have understandably distanced himself from the team and then for this reason I want to thank those who are helping us: Dorna and IRTA gave us full support from the beginning, all members of the team that they gave their unconditional support and those sponsors; and the new companies - that despite the objective concerns - gave us confidence and are interpreting the meaning of sponsorship in the original reason: financial aid to allow the athlete to realize his talent."

Can Suzuka become MotoGP's answer to Le Mans? - Motorsport.com

Prior to this year, I have to confess that I had paid little attention to the Suzuka 8 Hours – but the news back in March that Casey Stoner would be making a one-off racing comeback in Japan aboard a factory-blessed Honda was enough to pique my interest in the event in 2015.

Then, Yamaha upped the ante by wheeling out its duo of Tech 3 young guns Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro for its first Suzuka assault as a works operation in 13 years, creating a realistic chance of a full-time MotoGP rider winning for the first time since the late Daijiro Kato back in 2002.

Releasing an all-new version of its R1 superbike on the 60th anniversary of the company's inception, Yamaha expected nothing less than victory – and, albeit assisted by a spectacular exit for Stoner, both Smith and Espargaro delivered the goods, performing exceptionally on their Suzuka debuts.

Keeping Yamaha sweet

The significance of bringing Yamaha its first in the event since 1996 can barely be overstated when it comes to both riders' chances of remaining with Tech 3 for 2016.

Smith's deal is directly with Herve Poncharal's team, for which he has competed since 2011 in Moto2, and his results in MotoGP so far would probably have merited an extension regardless.

Victory at Suzuka however will have done his standing at the Yamaha head office no harm whatsoever, potentially putting him in a strong position to land a vacant factory seat in 2017 should either Valentino Rossi or Jorge Lorenzo depart.

Espargaro meanwhile is contracted directly to Yamaha, having been hand-picked off the back of his Moto2 title win in 2013 as a potential Marquez-beater. But his results have been less than stellar this season in comparison to Smith, notwithstanding a recurring arm pump issue.

It had been thought that standout Moto2 rookie Alex Rins was on Poncharal's radar for 2016, with Espargaro the more likely of the existing Tech 3 men to get the chop – but helping Yamaha to Suzuka glory may just earn him a stay of execution.

Plenty of big names

The talent on display at Suzuka didn't end with the aforementioned trio of Smith, Espargaro and Stoner – take a closer look at this year's Suzuka 8 Hours entry list, and you'll uncover all sorts of notable names from across the motorcycle racing world alongside the usual Japanese stars.

From World Superbikes, there was Stoner's teammate Michael van der Mark, who never got the chance to ride following the Aussie's crash, as well as Alex Lowes, who led much of the first hour aboard the Yoshimura Suzuki in his maiden outing in the event.

British Superbike regulars Broc Parkes, Tommy Bridewell, Jason O'Halloran and Josh Waters were also in attendance, along with Aussie rising star Josh Hook – who races in the Japanese Superbike series – former Grand Prix winner Toni Elias and Moto2 frontrunner Dominique Aegerter.

It seems an increasing number of up-and-coming riders are taking the event seriously as a way of gaining favour with the Japanese factories and advancing their careers, begging the question of whether we could see more active MotoGP riders have a go.

Could more stars be on the way?

Of course, there was a time when competing at Suzuka was de rigeur for the world's top racers, many of whom would have an obligation to race in the 8 Hours written into their contracts.

Wayne Gardner, Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson and Mick Doohan are among those with Suzuka victories to their credit, along with, in later years, Colin Edwards, Alex Barros and a certain Valentino Rossi, who took the win in his second attempt alongside Edwards in 2001 for Honda.

But, such was the toll that the event took on the Italian's body that year that he vowed never to race at Suzuka ever again.

It's highly unlikely that Rossi would ever countenance a return at this late stage of his career and jeopardise his chances of future MotoGP glory, while Lorenzo is also sufficiently established at Yamaha to be able to resist any pressure from the factory to race at Suzuka.

On the other hand, Smith and Espargaro were hardly in a position to refuse Yamaha, and it's possible that other young riders eager to impress in the Grand Prix world could find themselves struggling to say 'no' to their employers in 2016.

Honda, for example, won't take Yamaha's winning its own back yard lying down – and while Marc Marquez joining the fray seems doubtful, don't rule out HRC recruiting Jack Miller, Scott Redding or even an under-pressure Dani Pedrosa for its bid at revenge next year.

Suzuki meanwhile has a pair of fast Spaniards on its books in the form of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, and if Aegerter's efforts aboard the FCC TSR Honda help him earn a spot on the MotoGP grid next year, other Moto2 riders can be expected to follow in his footsteps.

It may just be that Smith and Espargaro spark a trend where, after years out of the spotlight outside Japan, the Suzuka 8 Hours becomes a rite of passage for those aspiring to succeed at the pinnacle of motorcycle racing.

'MotoGP 15' (ALL) Gets PlayStation League Game Mode - WorthPlaying.com

by Rainier on July 28, 2015 @ 8:15 a.m. PDT

MotoGP 15 is the latest installment of the motorcycle racing series dedicated to the most adrenalin-charged championship in the world.

Bike, rider, and team customization. Enhanced career mode. New game mode. Legendary two-stroke bikes. The 2015 MotoGP Season. These are the ingredients that promise to revolutionize the game experience for all competitive motorcycling enthusiasts and MotoGP championship fans.

One of the standout features of this new chapter dedicated to the motorcycle world championship season - a defining characteristic of the 2015 edition of the official videogame of the MotoGP - is bike, rider, and team customization, with more than 100 accessories available for purchase. Bike: choose from more than 20 bike models across 3 classes, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, choose from 40 different liveries with official color schemes, and consider offers from the main sponsors to accept their sponsorship during races. Rider: change the colour scheme of your leathers to match your bike, buy boots and gloves and choose your rider's face. Motorhome: transform your game experience with 3 different motorhomes (Basic, Mid-Range and Top-Range), so your avatar can live in a manner befitting to their level of stardom.

The 3 motorhomes are available right away, and all of the 100+ accessories can be purchased with GP Credits, a virtual currency that can be earned in any race mode, online and offline.

On 19 July 2015 MotoGP 15 will be updated to include the new PlayStation League Game Mode.

This new competitive mode is available exclusively for PS4 on the PlayStation League online game platform where players can meet up and challenge each other in quick games, tournaments, and a variety of matches.

Accessing the new feature is instant and easy. On 19 July 2015 players will have access to an exclusive update - available automatically via the PS4 - that adds a Playstation League option to the main menu in MotoGP 15. Access Playstation League via the new interface and the system automatically checks for valid PlayStation Plus and Playstation League registration. Once registered, players can:

  • Select an Official Bike with a Custom Team with dedicated Playstation League Livery
  • Choose one of the 19 official MotoGP circuits chosen by PlayStation for the weekly challenge
  • Set their best times over as many laps as it takes - there's no limit
  • Upload their times to the official Playstation League Leaderboards
  • Battle for the top places to become PlayStation League champions
  • The second highlight of the new title is the enhanced career mode, now fully integrated with the customization features. Once you have created your rider (name, face and principal physical characteristics) you start out on the road to becoming world champion. You'll start racing as a Wild Card and subsequently you'll be able to negotiate your future career by choosing one of the official teams participating in the 2015 championship, or choosing sponsors to race with your own Private Team, taking to the track alongside the existing teams. Negotiations hinge on your performance during races, meaning your customization options and resulting appearance are directly linked to your in-game objectives.

The third new component is the introduction of a new game-mode: Beat the Time. In this compelling new race players are assigned a specific bike on a specific circuit. Riders from the different classes featured in the game have set records on that circuit and on that bike. Your aim is to beat that record.

Other new features for MotoGP 15 include the introduction of the two-stroke bikes that made MotoGP history, all the teams, riders and bikes from the 2015 season, and Real Events from the 2014 season, for a complete experience that is unique in its genre.

    Lucio Cecchinello (LCR-Honda): Markenwechsel denkbar? - SPEEDWEEK.COM

MotoGP News: Forward Yamaha to miss Indianapolis MotoGP - crash.net

Fallout from the arrest of team owner Giovanni Cuzari means Forward Racing will be forced to miss the Indianapolis MotoGP.

Cuzari's investigation by Swiss police over alleged tax evasion and other financial impropriety, which began after the recent German round, has resulted in the team's funding effectively being cut off.

'Unfortunately, the reaction of the sponsors, the main source of income of an independent team, was immediate and resolute,' said a team statement. 'Inevitably some of them cancelled the existing contracts and interrupted payments, creating further financial troubles that could jeopardise completely the survival of the Team.

'The activity of these last days was therefore focused on rebuilding sponsor relationships, the Team was able to reach a consensus to regain some vital economic aid to cover the costs of the upcoming races. New processes of collection and payment were activated, the economic admin was rebuilt and new operational modalities were ag reed with the Public Prosecutor of Lugano (Procura di Lugano).'

Nevertheless, the Forward MotoGP and Moto2 teams will both be absent from Indianapolis on August 7-9, while efforts continue to re-join the championship one week later in Brno.

'The concrete possibility to start again and the hope to protect the interests of our riders, engineers, contractors and suppliers, led us to agree with IRTA, the International Racing Teams Association, not to deploy our riders at the start of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix on August 9th, in order to gather all the resources and to better organise the upcoming trips.

'This painful decision was necessary in order to try to ensure our participation to the World Championship until the end of the season.'

Forward Racing managing director Marco Curioni stated: "It was a very difficult week for the Forward Racing. Only in the last hours we have glimpsed the real possibility of overcome this situation. I hope to have Giov anni - who until proven to the contrary he is correct to assume innocent - soon with us and available to find a solution.

"In this dark moment, several 'partners' and 'friends' have understandably distanced [themselves] from the team and then for this reason I want to thank those who are helping us: Dorna and IRTA gave us full support from the beginning, all members of the team that gave their unconditional support and those sponsors and new companies - that despite the objective concerns - gave us confidence and are interpreting the meaning of sponsorship in the original reason: financial aid to allow the athlete to realise his talent".

Stefan Bradl was hoping to make his comeback from a fractured wrist at Indy. Given the uncertainty at Forward, the German's name is being linked with the ex-Marco Melandri seat at Aprilia.

Rookie team-mate Loris Baz finished the first half of the season an impressive second in the Open class, just five points from Hector Barbera. Lorenzo Baldassarri and Simone Corsi are currently 12th and 14th on Kalex equipment in Moto2.

Title sponsor Athina is rumoured to be among the brands that have left Forward.

Unfortunately i have to give you the bad news that i will not be in indianapolis due to the problems of my team. They are trying everything to be back on the grid for Brno. SO DISAPPOINTED

Forward Racing: Trennung von Stefan Bradl? - SPEEDWEEK.COM

MotoGP News - Suzuka 8 Hours: Big accident takes Casey Stoner out of race lead ... - crash.net

Retired double MotoGP champion Casey Stoner suffered a big accident while leading Sunday's Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race.

The 29-year-old Australian took over the #634 Musashi Honda from team-mate Takumi Takahashi just before the end of the first hour, moving into the lead when the Factory Yamaha of Katsuyuki Nakasuga pitted soon after.

Taking part in his first motorcycle race since Valencia 2012, disaster struck for Stoner on the fast, curving, downhill approach to the hairpin. After a front-end wobble, Stoner ran onto the grass where he fell from his CBR1000RR – sending rider and bike somersaulting.

Stoner later revealed that a stuck throttle caused the incident and that he suffered shoulder and leg injuries. Stoner had been able to crawl away, but the Musashi team's hopes of a third straight Suzuka win were well and truly over. A safety car was needed to remove Stoner's battered Honda from the middle of the track.

Australian Josh Hook (TSR Honda) then led the race after the restart, before being passed by Nakasuga's team-mate Bradley Smith.

Smith will later hand over to fellow Tech 3 MotoGP rider Pol Espargaro, who qualified the #21 bike on pole, while Stoner would have handed his bike to WSBK star Michael van der Mark.

SPEEDWEEK MotoGP - Forward Racing: Trennung von Stefan Bradl? - SPEEDWEEK.COM

FIFA 16: Alex Morgan Featured Alongside Lionel Messi on the Cover | Day Herald - Day Herald

MotoGP InFocus - 2016 Rule Changes - Stanley Cup of Chowder

A new era for the new era of motorcycle racing commences next year, but what exactly changes?

Every year, there's always some minor changes to the rules and regulations in MotoGP. It's usually something like a change to the number of engines, or the amount of tyres you have access to over a race weekend.

For 2016, though, there's to be a big overhaul of the entire championship. We're going to have stock homologated parts, a new fuel limit, and even the removal of the open class series. Further to that, there's a change to the rules of admittance to the championship.

Let's have a look, shall we?

    Standardised ECU

Currently, the open class bikes have a standard ECU software that doesn't alter from bike to bike. The software is what communicates with all the different sensors over the bike, regulating traction control, fuel injection and the like. From 2016, this software will be a standard throughout the entire field, and every bike will be obliged to use it. This includes the top two teams - the factory efforts from Yamaha and Honda, who particularly have long developed their own software to work with their bikes.

All manufacturers will provide input to the development of the standard ECU - indeed, there is now a software freeze in place for Yamaha, Honda and Ducati in order for their teams to dedicate time towards developing the ECU.

Along with that, every bike will be obliged to use a standard set of sensors at several points throughout the machine, available at a fixed cost to all teams across the field, although there are several exceptions to this. The following is a list of free devices, via Crash.net.

  • All actuators, such as fuel injectors, ignition coils, electric motors, actuation coils, fuel pumps.
  • Alternator and related Regulator/Powerbox (CAN protocol homologated by the Organiser).
  • Dashboard and message display devices (CAN protocol is unidirectional from ECU to device, homologated by the Organiser).
  • Inertial Platforms (up to 2 IPs are permitted, CAN protocol homologated by the Organiser).
  • Wiring Harness.
  • Any device specifically allowed by the Organiser.
  • Other manufacturers will be allowed to inspect these free devices, and in some cases are allowed to block the use of them. That seems a bit counter-productive to me but I suppose it helps to keep a level playing field.

Overall, this ruling is a good thing for MotoGP. It gives teams further down the field time to develop other parts of their bikes, and at least means in one aspect, anyone can win a race, really. It's all in the application, and how they make the software work with the rest of their bike.

While you'd still expect Yamaha and Ducati to be at the front of the field, watch out for Aprilia. They're not afraid of spending the necessary money, Alvaro Bautista is getting good results from his machine, and if they can match this advancing throughout 2015 and into 2016, they could be a major player.

The End Of The Open Class

With the introduction of the standard ECU throughout the whole grid, it sort of negates a need for the open class bikes. Granted, some teams will still have an advantage over others, but one of the major reasons for having it has gone, so there's not much point in running as separate entities - especially when you consider one team, the CWM LCR Honda outfit, have one true satellite rider in Cal Crutchlow, yet run an open class bike too, ridden by Jack Miller.

Previously, open class bikes were also allowed an extra four litres of fuel per race, as well as two extra engine changes than their factory opposition. This has been averaged out for the removal of open class - every bike will be given a 22 litre fuel allowance (up by two litres for factory bikes, but down two litres for open class bikes) while every team will be allowed seven engines a year per bike.

This might seem a bit unfair on the smaller teams, but when you consider the next point, it begins to make more sense.

    Streamlining And Realigning Teams

In 2016 MotoGP welcomes KTM to the premier class, becoming the sixth manufacturer in the series. Dorna seem to have decided that enough is enough, and have introduced the following rulings, which are applicable until at least 2021.

  • Each manufacturer has to have two factory bikes, as well as being obliged to provide between two and four bikes for lease, at a cost of no more than 2.2 million Euros (excluding crash costs), and this is only open to teams currently operating.
  • The field will have a minimum of 22 riders and a maximum of 24.
  • No more manufacturers will be admitted if the grid has more than 22 riders. Any new manufacturers wishing to enter the championship must make a deal with an already existing team.
  • Dorna have the right, but are not obliged to, buy the rights to the bottom two teams in the championship, should it need to - for example if they are struggling financially.
  • Central funding to the teams will increase by 30%, which Dorna believes should allow all teams to be able to afford the costs of being in the championship.
  • Let's have a quick look at how the grid currently lines up, and which teams may need to change engine supplier.

Honda Factory Team Repsol Honda Marc MarquezDani Pedrosa Customer/Satellite Teams CWM LCR Honda Cal CrutchlowJack Miller Estrella Galicia Marc 0.0 VDS Scott Redding AB Motoracing Karel Abraham Aspar MotoGP Eugene LavertyNicky Hayden Yamaha Factory Team Movistar Yamaha Valentino RossiJorge Lorenzo Customer/Satellite Teams Tech 3 Yamaha Bradley SmithPol Espargaro Athina Forward Stefan BradlLoris Baz Ducati Factory Team Ducati RT Andrea DoviziosoAndrea Iannone Customer/Satellite Teams Pramac Ducati Yonny HernandezDanilo Petrucci Avintia Racing Hector BarberaMike Di Meglio Aprilia Factory Team ART Gresini Alvaro BautistaMichael Laverty Customer/Satellite Teams IodaRacing(not technically a customer team, running an old bike) Alex De Angelis Suzuki Factory Team Suzuki Ecstar Aleix EspargaroMaverick Viñales

Having looked at who is contracted for 2016, it would appear that the Aspar Honda team is the one that is most under threat, with neither Nicky Hayden or Eugene Laverty contracted - so you could say two out and two in, with the KTMs arriving. Nothing groundbreaking there.

Other than that, I don't think we'll see too many changes. Aprilia, Suzuki and KTM will want to focus on getting their factory efforts right before leasing bikes (although they will have to offer some to be leased, I don't see many teams taking up that option).

The real problem lies in if, or when, other manufacturers want to join the party. BMW have long been rumoured to be looking at getting into the MotoGP field, and Kawasaki may eventually want to come back into the fold. How do you say no to two powerhouses like that? According to the rules, they will have to wait until Dorna buys out a struggling team, or do a deal with a current team. But if a current team are doing okay financially, they're not likely to sell up and shift out, are they?

That said, Dorna are looking for stability, and these regulations mean that there will be stability. Manufacturers have to run two bikes, have to offer a set number of bikes, and teams can only be bought out - you're not going to have teams falling off the ladder because Dorna won't allow it.

    In Conclusion

I think the new regulations will close up the MotoGP field and make the racing even more exciting than it already is. I'd expect the factory bikes to still be at the front - they'll have more time for R&D, and more resources to throw at it - but I think the other factory teams will get a lot closer. The Suzukis will get closer, the Aprilias will become a force, and KTM (heavily rumoured to be backed by Red Bull) won't be coming in just to run around at the back.

It's going to be an exciting year.

MotoGP News - Forward Yamaha to miss Indianapolis MotoGP - Crash.Net - crash.net
