During pool play Alex Morgan only saw limited minutes, fortunately for the USWNT that changed with the start of the knockout round. Morgan got the team on the board early with a goal giving them a 1-0 lead.
Morgan's goal came off of a penalty kick after she was tackled by Columbia's goalie Catalina Perez. The young star made the most of her opportunity.
The USWNT is expected to beat Columbia with their goals still set on a World Cup championship. This is their first game in the knockout round after going 2-0-1 in pool play.
