According to Variety[1], filmmaker Sam Raimi (the Spider-Man trilogy, "Ash vs Evil Dead") is in talks with Warner Bros. Pictures[2] to produce and possibly direct an untit led action adventure movie with the working title "Stormfall." The heist movie, which takes place during a tornado storm in the Carolinas, revolves around a man and his mentor.

If that plotline sounds vaguely familiar, that's because Foresight Unlimited[3] already announced their upcoming action thriller Category 5, which will star Toby Kebbell (Ben-Hur) and be directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious). The rival project follows a team of tech hackers who infiltrate a U.S. Mint facility on a small coastal town in a $200M heist, just as a disastrous Category 5 – the storm of the century – is about to strike and level it to the ground.

With Category 5 slated to begin shooting in August 2016, Raimi has a lot of catching up to do, including hiring writers to pen the "Stormfall" screenplay.

Raimi produced Screen Gems' thriller Don't Breathe, which is set to open August 25. He's also developing the near-future sci-fi film World War 3 for Warner Bros.

Raimi previously directed Oz The Great and Powerful, released in 2013, which features the below impressive tornado scene.
