Lauren Conrad The Lone Holdout For ‘The Hills’ Movie

Lauren Conrad grew up on TV as the star of the MTV hits Laguna Beach and The Hills, and now she will be the one who makes or breaks a proposed MTV movie about the show that made her famous. Entertainment Weekly reports what Lauren Conrad has not yet agreed[1] to participate in a movie adaptation of The Hills and that her involvement is key to getting the project greenlit.

A source told EW that Hills stars Kristin Cavallari, Whitney Port, and Audrina Patridge were all approached to do a reunion movie and all three expressed interest in the project, but Lauren Conrad has been the one holdout. Conrad was the star of The Hills until the middle of the fifth season, when Cavallari filled her stylish shoes for the show's final 21 episodes.

The initial concept for the film version of The Hills would reportedly begin with Patridge's wedding in Australia with her famous friends in attendance. Patridge is pregnant and currently engaged to Australian BMX biker Corey Bohan. The now 30-something cast would all give viewers updates on what they've been up to since the show signed off in 2010.

It has been 10 years since The Hills made its debut on MTV. The show followed Lauren Conrad's post-Laguna Beach High School life as a fashion design school student who landed an internship at Teen Vogue and partied with pals at posh L.A. clubs, and it also introduced the world to Speidi — aka Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. Lauren Conrad went on to become a successful novelist (she penned the L.A. Candy book series) and businesswoman; fashion is still her forte, as seen by her multiple Kohl's clothing lines.

While she hasn't agreed to do the movie yet, Conrad is definitely nostalgic over the milestone anniversary of her show. Lauren even penned a blog post on her website in which she revealed that she watched The Hills pilot[5] for the first time in a decade to mark the show's 10th anniversary.

"Even though I know how it all ends, it was a little difficult watching my younger self struggle—I was in way over my head!" Lauren admitted. "It was odd watching all of us just starting out, with no idea what the future held."

Lauren also poked fun at the "poor makeup choices" of her younger self, but added that she was proud of the show. Conrad wrote that the experience "taught me so much and forever altered my life and my outlook for the better."

While fans will have to see if Lauren Conrad decides to sign on to The Hills movie reboot, they can take comfort in the fact that she has agreed to participate in the show's anniversary special airing later this summer. In addition to her blog post, Conrad took to Twitter to confirm that she will indeed appear[6] in the TV special, The Hills: That Was Then, This is Now, which will air Aug. 2 on MTV.

Lauren Conrad told MTV News she's excited[9] to be "returning home" to her roots at the network.

"I am so excited to be returning home to MTV to commemorate the 10th anniversary of The Hills," Lauren said. "Viewers watched me grow up and experience milestones on Laguna Beach and The Hills — and now they will get a firsthand look at my life today."

Lauren will reportedly share secrets about the show with viewers and update fans on her current career success and marriage to longtime love William tell.

Lauren Conrad's rep declined to comment on The Hills movie, but the star's appearance on the anniversary special is definitely a good sign. Now, if MTV can just get Justin Bobby on the books, it will all be good.
